Our Addiction Treatment Program

The Freedom Treatment Center program doesn’t refer to people addicted to drugs and alcohol as addicts. Instead we view them as students, people learning to live without substance abuse.

Our addiction treatment program is designed to enable graduates to get back into their life on their own. The program focuses on teaching students to live ethical lives free of their addiction, and become contributing citizens.

Addiction Treatment at Freedom Treatment Center

Our Philosophy

Freedom Treatment Center takes a comprehensive approach to drug and alcohol rehabilitation. We do not focus soley on the physical addiction, and we do not believe that addiction is a disease you are powerless to conquer. We focus on defeating the physical addiction with proven methods, and then on creating a new foundation for living through life skill courses and cognitive behavioral therapy.

The Detox Process

We begin with detox treatment. This is the process of removing drug toxins and residuals from your body, through the use of our innovative sauna detox programs. Toxins and residuals from years of drug use build up in the body and can contribute to relapse and struggles, even after you stop using the drug. Sauna detox, along with an aggressive plan to replenish vitamins and nutrients, helps the student fight off the depression, anxiety, and insomnia that is associated with detox and withdrawal from drugs.

Mental Aspects of Addiction

After detox, we move on to treating the mental health aspects of addiction. When a person is addicted to drugs and alcohol, their judgment and thinking becomes clouded. The way they perceive themselves and others is distorted by their use. Traditionally, a drug or alcohol abuser is taught “addiction is a disease”, passed on through genetics and biology. This encourages a helpless attitude, with the “disease” having control over the actions of the person.

We do not believe that addiction is a disease that cannot be conquered. Our cognitive behavioral therapy program aims to teach our students new methods and ways of thinking. By confronting the deeper issues that caused addiction in the first place, we can help our students learn new ways of coping and dealing with problems that do not include drugs and alcohol.

At the Freedom Treatment Center, the individual is taught the dynamics that encompass their life and showed that every dynamic has a certain condition. If they feel they are in a lower, less survival condition on one of these dynamics they are given a sequence of steps that will enable them to move into a higher condition on that dynamic. They are taught how to notice certain characteristics in the people they engage with helping them to determine if it is in their best interest to remain associated with that person, as well as, given an ethical morale code and a series of precepts to grow on.

Our Methods

Detoxification
Detox is the first stage of any addiction treatment. The intensity and type of detox is dependent on the drug being abused. Alcohol, for example, requires professional medical attention as the detox process can result in seizures and other complications.

Our staff evaluates the condition and addiction of each individual to craft a treatment plan that achieves results on a safe, productive manner.

Physical Treatment
When drugs or alcohol are taken, the human body reacts. The body identifies the poison, and in turn, burns vitamin reserves and nutrients to ward off the threat. Many people suffering from addiction believe that initial detox and withdrawal is the worst part of coming off drugs – but the truth is that most problems come after detox.

Depression, anxiety, and insomnia set in after detox. This impacts attitude, concentration, and sleeping habits. The emotional swings triggered by the loss of essential vitamins and nutrients exacerbate the problem.

In order to achieve optimum results, the program must address these physical symptoms. Drug residuals are left in the body and stored within fatty tissues, laying dormant for years. If not eliminated, these residuals will be a source of frustration and potential relapse for the student.

Our sauna detox program (in association with diet, exercise, and vitamin mineral therapies) allows the body to rid itself of these residuals. Sauna detox has proven itself to be the most efficient and effective way of eliminating the unwanted feelings they were experiencing after detox – leaving the student eating healthier, sleeping better, feeling better, and with a clear mind.

Mental Treatment
Addiction clouds minds – changing how a user perceives themselves, others, and the world around them. Most treatment centers use a traditional approach to addiction, focusing on the “addiction is a disease” concept. This teaches users that they have a disease, it may be genetic, and they are powerless.

Our center does not teach students to fear their addiction, or tell them they are powerless. Our newer, more effective approach to addiction treatment focuses on confronting the underlying issues that caused an addiction initially. We believe that our students used drugs and alcohol as a solution to deeper problems, and that they cannot be free of addiction until they defeat these demons.

We use cognitive behavioral therapy to teach new ways to handle challenges. We teach students to act positively and ethically when confronted with problems and uncomfortable situations, rather than turning to drugs or alcohol. We teach them to control their emotions and actions in tough circumstances, and help them create a positive thought process that helps them reactive in a positive, productive manner.

Life Skills
It can be hard to understand addiction. Loved ones ask themselves what drives a person to act in such a self-destructive manner. There are reminders and advertisements everywhere trying to spread the word about the damage drugs can do, so why don’t addicts just stop?

The reason for addiction goes beyond the physical pleasures of the drug. Abusers travel down their road because of pain and troubles in their lives. This is why you see stories of suicidal addicts – they cannot bear with the transgressions they have committed against themselves and others. They have violated trust, and they realize they are living a sad life. They know that drugs only take, and that drugs lead them into hurting themselves and others, yet, they cannot just stop.

At Freedom Treatment Center we help the substance abuser learn how to build momentum and regain a purpose in life through our life skills and relapse prevention courses. These courses help the individual take responsibility for their transgressions and build the foundation of a new life.
