Addiction Treatment for Women

Substance abuse in the United States today

Addiction Treatment for WomenIn the US today, substance abuse (and addiction) has become a serious public health problem as well as a catalyst for violent crimes.  Substance abuse has been linked to several different facts, such as depression, poor academic performance, and violence.  Each year society witnesses roughly 40 million injuries and/or serious illnesses that are associated with substance abuse.  Additionally, the number of women that are affected each year is growing.

Women and substance addiction

Addiction treatment for women has become more visible in the entire substance addiction treatment and recovery industry.  Ongoing research continues to reveal statistics regarding substance addiction in women.  For instance, nearly 70% of all women in the US today that have contracted HIV/AIDS did so by virtue of a substance related incident.  One of the key things we have learned is that women are plagued by certain catalysts that are gender oriented and different from those that trigger addiction in men.  These include:

  • Anxiety disorders, depression, and other behavioural issues
  • Domestic abuse at the hands of their partner or spouse
  • Sexual victimization during their childhood or in adolescent years

Unfortunately, there is a lack of understanding regarding the use of certain substances by females and their individual needs.  Most of the facilities that offer programs which target addiction treatment for women overlook certain key factors necessary to successful treatment and recovery such as:

  • age factors (i.e. older women)
  • ethnic backgrounds
  • sexual orientation (e.g. bi-sexual, gay, or heterosexual)

What this means is that most of the substance addiction centers tend to push their clients through the same programs while not addressing or even neglecting the above issues in their treatment and recovery programs.  The  Freedom Center provides addiction treatment for women that are based on their specific needs taking all of the above into consideration when customizing a program for them.

We are here to help you with your addiction

The  Freedom Center has always focused on addiction treatment for women that addresses their specific needs.  We do not use the same treatment and recovery programs for them that we employ with our male clients.  We utilize alternative and innovative therapies unlike any other substance addiction treatment and recovery facilities.  In so doing, we have a 70%+ success rate overall where all of our clients are concerned.

By addressing the emotional and mental levels of the addiction, as well as the physical consequences, we are able to enable a woman to heal and remain substance-free once they leave our facility and return to society.  If you would like to know more about the Narconon Freedom Center and addiction treatment for women here at our facility, please call us at the toll-free phone number listed above.
