Florida Addiction Treatment
Florida’s current drug problems
Bordered by the Atlantic Ocean on the east and the Gulf of Mexico on the west, Florida is a prime destination for illegal substances being trafficked into and distributed throughout the state. Money launderers are also involved in the substance trafficking equation. Suffice it to say, with over 8,000 miles of coastline, Florida has become a principal thoroughfare for the trafficking of cocaine and heroin through the state.
The primary drug threat in the state is cocaine and it is arriving in Florida from Mexico and South America. In addition to cocaine being the primary threat, there are other substances that the DEA is constantly aware of:
- crack cocaine
- heroin
- marijuana
- methamphetamine
- MDMA and club drugs
- prescribed pain killers
With the mass distribution and trafficking of these substances in the state, it is no wonder that substance abuse and addiction cases are growing in numbers. As a result, more and more Florida addiction treatment and recovery centers have opened in numerous locations throughout the state.
The failure of state addiction treatment centers
Nationwide, research has revealed that most of the conventional substance rehab centers are failing about 80% of the time with clients who have completed their programs and returned to society. In other words, 4 out of every 5 treated and recovered individuals eventually relapse and become addicted again. So what is this excessive rate of failure attributed to? Why is this failure rate so high?
One of the key reasons behind this high rate of failure is the fact that most Florida addiction treatment centers are still employing conventional treatment and recovery methods and therapies. These treatment and recovery modalities are primarily based in techniques that are considered to be out-of-date and ineffectual. The Narconon Freedom Center has learned that treating the addiction successfully so an individual recovers completely and remains substance-free involves more than what these other treatment facilities provide.
The traditional Florida addiction treatment and recovery centers fail to address the emotional and psychological levels of the individual’s addiction. They treat the physical level and apply these out-of-date therapies, then return the individual back to society where they eventually relapse in astounding numbers. Another critical part of the failure rate is the lack of education necessary to teaching the client how to recover and then remain substance-free once they have returned to society.
