Painkiller Addiction Treatment
An overview of painkiller addiction
One of the first things that you need to be aware of is the difference between painkiller addiction and painkiller dependence. Although they are erroneously used interchangeably, there is a significant difference between them. Painkiller dependence is the body’s physical response to taking the medication whereas painkiller addiction is the psychological response so you shouldn’t confuse the two. You should also be aware of the fact that one can ultimately lead to the other.
The more you depend on the relief that painkillers provide, the greater the likelihood that a tolerance will build up and you will need to ingest increasingly larger dosages of these. Usually, prescriptions for painkillers occur in order to manage your pain and relieve your discomfort. Most painkillers with addictive tendencies are opiate-based and include certain medications such as:
- OxyContin
- Percocet
- Vicodin
These are the most addictive of the bunch and contain hydrocodone which is a synthetically manufactured, opioid which is derived from codeine and thebaine, two naturally occurring opiates. Hydrocodone is taken orally in most cases and is a combination of a cough suppressant (antitussive) and narcotic analgesic (painkiller). You can find these in capsule, syrup, or tablet form.
Our painkiller addiction treatment programs
According to the DEA, painkiller addiction is a major drug threat in the majority of the 50 states in the US. As a result of the increase in prescription drug abuse and addiction, a need for more painkiller addiction treatment and recovery programs has arisen. Many state addiction treatment and recovery centers today offer these types of programs. Unfortunately, most of these programs fail and their clients return to society and eventually relapse into the addiction again.
Conversely, the Narconon Freedom Center offers painkiller addiction treatment programs that have a 70% or higher success rate where their clients are concerned. We don’t rely on the conventional treatment methods and therapies that the majority of the traditional rehab facilities do. Instead, we employ alternative treatment methods and innovative therapies that target the specific needs of the individual in order to assist them in being successful in their endeavors.
We provide our clients with comprehensive educational materials and other recovery tools that enable them to complete our painkiller addiction treatment and recovery programs so that when they return to society they remain substance-free for life. Additionally, there are several classes/courses that clients participate in to accomplish this while they are going through one of our residential addiction treatment and recovery programs.
If you or someone you know needs help with painkiller addiction, the Narconon Freedom Center is here to help you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our caring and experienced staff members are here to answer any of your questions. Please feel free to contact us at the toll-free number above for more information.
