Top Alcohol Treatment Centers

Choosing the best alcohol treatment centers

The most difficult decision that a person addicted to alcohol faces is admitting that they have a problem. After that the individual must make an equally difficult decision and that is setting out to find one of the top alcohol treatment centers to enter for professional help. Today, there are literally hundreds of alcohol addiction treatment and recovery centers to choose from. So the decision making process can be extremely challenging and even a bit frustrating. Here are a few suggestions:

Determine what alcohol addiction rehab program will best address your needs – first decide between the alternative format and the traditional type (statistics have shown that recovery success percentages are higher in the alternative programs. Next, you want to figure out if the in-patient or the out-patient addiction rehab program is better suited to your needs. If you opt for the in-patient format, will a short-term (14 to 28 days) program work best or will you need to enter a long-term (up to four months or longer) program?

Interview directors or program managers of each facility you are considering – obviously, you are going to want to learn as much as you can about each facility and their staff members to determine whether they are one of the top alcohol treatment centers and can address your personal needs.

Make sure you have the budget for the program – one of the primary reasons that individuals who need professional help for alcohol addiction don’t get it is because they do not have the financial means or insurance coverage to pay for it. If this is the case, you might consider an out-patient rehab program as they are more affordable.

Find out who will be caring for you while you are in the program – you’ll want to know if the person who will be monitoring and supervising your care and progress is a licensed professional such as a physician or psychiatrist. Or, will it be a staff member with lesser qualifications.

Avoiding the obstacles that hinder your success

Whether you are fortunate enough to get into one of the top alcohol treatment centers or not, there may be certain obstacles that you will have to overcome in order to be successful in your attempt to be substance-free. These obstacles include:

  • Condescending attitudes of fellow peers
