Physical Effects And Issues of Cocaine Use

There are several physical effects of cocaine that result in a drug addiction that wreaks havoc on the body. There will be changes in blood pressure, heart rates, and breathing rates, which are all due to the chemicals in cocaine interfering with the systems that control the functioning of the body

There are also side effects to the actual drug. These include nausea and vomiting, because the cocaine will cause damage to the lining of the stomach and will cause the user to feel that the stomach is upset. Cocaine addiction will also cause anxiety, and could cause convulsions, because the two areas affected by cocaine use in the brain are the two areas that control the movements of the body and the rate at which the bodily systems operate.

Along with the above, cocaine will also cause a loss of appetite. Therefore, cocaine users will not feel hungry and will not eat as they should. This can lead to weight loss and also to malnutrition, and most often the cocaine user will not even be aware that they are starving themselves to death.

Some other side effects of cocaine use include cold sweats, restlessness and anxiety. All of these things occur because the effects on the brain are a direct result of cocaine use. The person who is using cocaine is sometimes not even aware that the anxiety is due to their cocaine use, and this only furthers the anxious feelings.

Depending on how the cocaine is introduced into the body, there might also be swelling and bleeding of the mucous membranes, or damage to the nasal cavities, lungs, and other body systems. Long-term drug abuse might cause heart attacks, respiratory failure, and even strokes.Because cocaine is rapidly absorbed through the body and into the blood, it is taken swiftly to the brain. Because of this, there is a large chance of overdosing and/or poisoning. These things might lead to comas, convulsions and death. The more a person uses cocaine, the more prone they are to these physical symptoms.

With all of these symptoms, the chances of having problems increase whenever someone uses cocaine. Because cocaine is a drug that is quickly tolerated by the body, a person will build up immunity towards the good feelings associated with the high. This will cause them to need to do more cocaine in order to feel as good as they felt the first time they used cocaine. This leads to more and more cocaine use, and will quickly lead to addiction. Once someone is addicted to cocaine, it is an extremely hard drug to detox from..
