Barbiturates Drug Rehab
What are barbiturates?
Barbiturates are defined as being derivatives of barbituric acid. They function by depressing a person’s central nervous system and producing a broad range of effects from mildly sedative to complete anesthesia. They are typically prescribed for:
- calming anxiety symptoms
- relaxing muscles
- sedation or tranquilizing
In recent years, benzodiazepines have replaced barbiturates because of the tendency of individuals to overdose on them. Consequently, the accessibility of barbiturates have made them a favorite in the illegal distribution and trafficking of prescription medications. They have an extremely addictive nature both physically and psychologically. Additionally, they can be ingested by injection or orally.
Excessive abuse and prolonged ingestion of barbiturates can produce chronic symptoms, including the following:
- life-threatening acute overdose syndrome
- marked changes in one’s alertness
- decreased interpersonal functioning
- unpredictable mood swings and irritability
- significant memory loss
Combining barbiturates with other depressants like alcohol makes them even more dangerous and could ultimately result in the death of the person using them. These factors have all contributed to the need for implementing barbiturate drug rehab programs throughout the US.
We can help with barbiturate addiction
The Narconon Freedom Center is experiencing the same success rates with our barbiturate drug rehab programs as we have been with our other addiction treatment and recovery programs. Our addiction treatment and recovery programs have the highest success rates in the US, which is why we are equally as confident about our barbiturate drug rehab programs. What separates our programs from the traditional ones is the fact that we address the emotional and psychological consequences of the addiction, not just the physical ones.
Our barbiturate drug rehab programs feature alternative therapies combined with education so that when an individual completes the treatment and recovery process, they can return to society and remain substance-free for life. There are a number of things that we teach our clients which enable them to accomplish this. However, the first area of the recovery process that we initially focus on involves three key elements which are:
- raising the addicted individual’s ability to confront and then control those feelings, situations, and other circumstances involved in everyday life
- learning how to communicate more effectively where those feelings, situations, and other circumstances mentioned above so as to relieve any future discomfort
- being able to control oneself as well as our surroundings in a healthier manner
If you know someone that you suspect has a problem with barbiturates abuse, or if you are experiencing these circumstances, please feel free to contact us immediately. We can provide you with more information regarding our barbiturate drug rehab programs and answer any of your questions in the process of assisting you.
