Dilaudid Drug Rehab

What is Dilaudid?

Dilaudid Drug RehabDilaudid is one of several brand names for the drug hydromorphone (generic) and is a very potent analgesic that is centrally-acting and is a member of the opioid family.  It is a morphine derivative and therefore what is referred to as a semi-synthetic drug.  It is an opioid analgesic in medical terms as well as a narcotic in legal terms.  It is known worldwide by several different names.  However, you are cautioned to the fact that there are a number of inconsistencies in these brand names from one country to the next.

Dilaudid is primarily prescribed as an alternative medication to heroin and morphine as an analgesic or painkiller and as a narcotic antitussive (cough remedy).  Generally, Dilaudid is considered to be the strongest and most effective antitussive on the market.  As a result, it has become a popular illegally trafficked prescription drug and Dilaudid abuse and addiction is becoming more common every day.  As a result of this, there are numerous addiction treatment and recovery centers that now offer Dilaudid drug rehab programs.

Adverse side effects of Dilaudid

The major hazards involved with abusing Dilaudid include circulatory and respiratory depression.  However, the more common side effects include:

  • constipation
  • dizziness
  • euphoria
  • lightheadedness
  • nausea and vomiting
  • sedation
  • sweating

It is the euphoria that results from taking Dilaudid that has led to growing abuse and addiction in the US.  Although massive overdoses of the drug are rarely documented with individuals who are opioid-tolerant, if one occurs it can result in the collapsing of the circulatory system and be terminal as a result.

Even when the abuse of Dilaudid is short-term, it can result in brief yet very intense withdrawal symptoms when its use is suddenly discontinued.  The sudden discontinuation of Dilaudid exhibits more severe withdrawal symptoms similar to what is evidenced when morphine use is stopped.  Typically, the first 14 to 21 hours are the toughest but the withdrawal process can last as long as three days and be very intense throughout depending on the extent of the abuse and addiction.

We have Dilaudid drug rehab programs that work

The Narconon Freedom Center offers numerous addiction treatment and recovery programs for a wide array of substances (alcohol included).  Our Dilaudid drug rehab programs are now being viewed as some of the most successful programs in the US compared to other traditional addiction treatment and recovery facilities that rely on a common conventional, one-size-fits-all approach to any addiction.

Additionally, when you enter a Dilaudid drug rehab program here at the Narconon Freedom Center, you will be welcomed into a comforting homelike environment which is far less intimidating than the traditional clinical and hospital looking facilities.
