LSD Drug Rehab
LSD abuse and addiction
Although it is not considered one of the primary drug threats in the US today, LSD is still a concern of the DEA and numerous public health officials. The abuse of LSD is also gaining more attention from the healthcare industry and medical professionals as there are always reported cases involving serious illnesses that are LSD related. Although LSD supposedly has no addictive characteristics, it is still being used recreationally in growing numbers and the number of LSD drug rehab programs has been increasing as well.
LSD is the abbreviation for Lysergic Acid Diethylamide and is a semi-synthetic psychedelic substance which produces altered states of consciousness inclusive of hallucinations. LSD has been around over 70 years, first synthesized in 1938 by the Swiss scientist Albert Hoffman. Interestingly enough, he was the first person to test the drug – on himself. Today, its recreational use is growing even though it is not considered to be an addictive substance or one that you would immediately want to do over and over.
LSD and psychological dependence
Even though it is not physically addictive, an individual can become psychologically dependant on LSD, just like what occurs when certain other substances are abused. When you are taking LSD on a regular basis, it can become hard to function in consensus with the reality of life around you. Usually, it is an individual’s curiosity or the desire to escape reality that propels them into experimenting with LSD.
Typically, if a person’s first “acid trip” is a good one, they are apt to experiment with the drug again in order to recreate the hallucinations and high they experienced the first time. There is no way of knowing what that next trip will be like and characteristically no 2 trips are alike. On the other side of the coin, it is that “escaping from reality” factor wherein the person takes LSD in the hopes of having a positive experience.
Finding the right LSD drug rehab program
There is hundreds of addiction treatment and recovery centers throughout the US, most of which now offer LSD drug rehab programs for the individuals who need them. However, despite the fact that these programs are growing in numbers, many of them are failing due to the fact that they employ conventional methods and therapies to treat the abuse. These typically do not work because the therapies are now considered to be out of date.
The Narconon Freedom Center takes an alternative approach to LSD drug rehab and uses more innovative therapies in order to enable our clients a successful recovery. We are not the traditional type of addiction treatment and recovery facility which still look like clinics or hospitals. Instead, when clients enter our facility, they are welcomed into an inviting and warm residential environment and are provided with a homelike setting in order to complete the treatment and recovery program.
