Morphine Drug Rehab
What is Morphine?
Morphine is an analgesic (painkiller) that and is a potent opiate, as well as a psychoactive drug. For all practical purposes, it is the prototype of opioids. Examples of opioids available on the market today are OxyContin, Percocet, and Percodan. Morphine is a highly addictive substance and tolerance builds up quickly, meaning that more frequent or increasingly higher doses of the drug result. It is a dual level type of addiction in that it is physically and psychologically addictive.
Morphine functions by activating the brain’s “reward” system. In turn, this creates a greater craving for the drug the more that it is ingested. In addition to the addictive qualities of morphine, it also renders a person less conscious and harms their ability to be fully aware of their surroundings as well as think properly. This impairment can be potentially dangerous, especially if the individual attempts to operate a vehicle while under the influence of the drug.
Morphine Addiction Symptoms
There are literally dozens of symptoms associated with morphine addiction. These include:
- Bluish colored fingernails and lips
- Cold clammy skin
- Difficulty breathing
- Fluid in the lungs
- Nausea and vomiting
- Dilated or “pinpoint” sized pupils
If enough is ingested as in the case of an overdose, coma and death can easily result. The opioids mentioned above along with morphine have become a focused concern of the DEA because of the growth being witnessed in the illegal prescription market. Morphine also poses a significant public health threat. Consequently, there are more morphine drug rehab programs available today than ever before.
Traditional Morphine Drug Rehab Programs
Most of the traditional addiction treatment and recovery centers in the US offer drug rehab programs for morphine. The problem with these is that most of them don’t work and the individual who has completed the program and returned to society eventually relapses back into their addiction. On the other hand, those programs that take a more innovative approach to morphine abuse and addiction employ alternative therapies that are much more successful.
Our Rehab Programs
The Freedom Treatment Center offers the most successful addiction treatment and recovery programs in the country. The primary reason is the fact that we do not rely on conventional therapies to treat our clients in the hopes that they will recover successfully. We focus on learning sessions and teaching that gives our students the tools they need to lead a sober lifestyle and make good choices that prevent relapse into addiction.
Additionally, the traditional facilities use the same approach with every client despite the fact that no two individuals are alike. For more information regarding our drug rehab programs, please contact us at the toll-free number listed above.
