Roxicet Drug Rehab

What is Roxicet and why is it prescribed?

Roxicet Drug RehabRoxicet is the brand name assigned to one of the numerous narcotic (opioid) analgesics (pain medications) and is synthesized from thebaine, an opium derivative.  Roxicet, like other medications in this category, is an acetaminophen and oxycodone combination which is primarily prescribed for the relief of moderate to severe pain.  As with any other narcotic analgesic, Roxicet is a powerfully addictive opioid and dependencies on the drug can quickly develop.  Unfortunately, Roxicet is used recreationally just like the other opioids in its class.

Although Roxicet is not as common as some of the other narcotic analgesics in this category, it has still created the need for Roxicet drug rehab programs at the majority of the addiction treatment and recovery facilities here in the US.  Roxicet, like other oxycodone-based medications should be taken in moderation because of the addiction and dependency characteristics of the drug.

Roxicet side effects

Roxicet side effects are divided into two groups – those that are common or mild and those that are much more severe.  The more common, less serious side effects include:

  • blurred vision
  • dry mouth
  • feelings of dizziness or drowsiness
  • headache
  • mild constipation, nausea, upset stomach, or vomiting

Conversely, there could be additional side effects that are more severe and require immediate medical attention.  These include:

  • confusion
  • convulsions or seizures
  • fainting or feeling light-headed
  • clay-colored stools, dark urine, jaundice, loss of appetite, nausea, and stomach pain
  • shallow breathing
  • slow heartbeat

Again, if you are experiencing the more severe side effects listed here, whether you are taking Roxicet as prescribed or using it recreationally, you should seek medical attention immediately.  Additionally, if you are suffering with a Roxicet dependency or addiction, you should consider contacting the Narconon Freedom Center for help.
