Ineffective Rehab Programs

More Admissions into Treatment Could Indicate Ineffective Rehab Programs

Any person who is looking for a drug treatment program can tell you that finding the right program for themselves or a loved one can be a difficult task. The effectiveness of a drug rehab program is the determining factor whether a person actually recovers from an addiction, or not.

Recent statistics indicate that there are over 22 million people in the United States who are suffering with substance abuse issues. Many of them have attempted to go into a rehab program and have been unsuccessful or told that so few people make it after treatment that they give up before even completing a program.

“Getting into a successful rehabilitation program can be impossible for many,” says Ramsy Darwish, Intake Director at Narconon Freedom Center. “I have spoken to several hundred people over the phone,” says Darwish, “and many of them have tried two or three or even more drug treatment programs and relapsed after each one. It can cause both addicts and family members to just give up on ever getting help.”

And according to recent statistics, this may be just what is happing as currently around 95% of those needing treatment are not receiving it. And the lack of programs in the United States is not the cause. It’s the lack of effective treatment and programs that get good results. And unfortunately current reports indicate that most traditional drug treatment achieves an only 15 percent success rate for permanent sobriety.

“The only way to really recover from addiction,” says Darwish, “is to get into a program that has a stable record of achieving a very high success rate for permanent sobriety.” One such program that has done this for the last 40 years is the Narconon Freedom Treatment Program. The Narconon program is a long-term, drug-free program that specializes in all hardcore addictions and achieves an over 70% success rate for permanent recovery.
