RSS Narconon Freedom Center Joins U.N. Fight Against Drug Abuse
International Day Against Drugs was celebrated on June 26th, 2010. The United Nations teamed up with partners all over the world to get the word out about drug abuse and the illicit trafficking of drugs. The goal was to inspire those to mobilize support for drug control, especially to our youth.
More and more youth are experimenting with drugs, both legal and illegal. With this day, the United Nations is hoping to spread the increasing awareness to everyone. Drugs and illicit trafficking don’t just affect those in low income areas. Many need to be awaken to the fact that drugs affect all, not just one stereotype.
“The staff of Narconon Freedom Center will be hosting a special graduation to help raise awareness for drug abuse and illicit trafficking” says Megan Werner Brennan, Public Contact Supervisor for Narconon Freedom Center, a non-profit drug rehab program. “The Center will be hosting a petition signing that night to send to the United Nations Organization to show our support in the fight on drug abuse. Not only will our staff going to be involved in this petition, but also our clients,” adds Brennan.
“This is a great way for our center to get involved with an international event and ban together to help the biggest problem facing our country today. Many stereotype where and how and when drugs come into our country and think that is the only way we are exposed to them. Many forget that this happens in our own towns, communities and mostly in our schools” says Brennan.
